Women’s Support Pilot Project
In these trying times, there are many women in underserved communities that are not getting the support that they need — particularly related to mental health, getting access to social services, and just general support on how to deal with challenging situations such as domestic violence and self-care!
PILOT PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH THE OFICINA DE MUJER:
We are looking to launch a six-month pilot project with the MUNI’s Women’s Office: to support underserved women in our communities that otherwise wouldn’t have access to support!
This project will be in three-parts:
PART 1: One-on-One Support: Providing much needed mental-health/therapeutic support to an initial pilot cohort of 12-women from all over the Cobano District area.
Women will be selected based on need as well a potential to be leaders in their communities.
Each women will get 7 sessions (2 per month) of support from a licensed psychotherapist over a 3.5 month period.
These one-on-one sessions will help women with the development of their emotional states and give them much-needed tools in order to be able to then participate in a group program (Part 2).
PART 2: Group Process Support
The cohort of women will then enter a 2.5-month group support program where they will participate in 2x/month sessions on specific topics such as self-care, navigating domestic violence, etc.
In these facilitated sessions, women will get to share and learn from each other: building their own capacities and connections so that they can bring this support and knowledge back to their communities.
PART 3: Community Re-Integration:
Women will be encouraged to report back to other women in their communities and share their skills and knowledge acquired during the pilot!
They will also serve as the Ambassadors in selecting the next cohort once this pilot has been completed!
